Born on 2nd August 1945 in Leeds, near to the famous Leeds Park, Roundhay.
Educated from 5 to 10.25 at the now closed Pontnewynydd Primary School just outside Pontypool, then in Monmouthshire. Then at Trinity School of John whitgift, a then Direct Grant school, and a Headmasters' Conference nmember, at what is now the Whitgift Shopping Centre off North End, Croydon, Surrey. Then a degree in mathematics at University of Surrey, Stag Hill, Guildford.
Then working at the Marconi Company at their Research Labs in Great Baddow, Essex. Spycatcher Peter Wright worked there and his father was Director of Research for Marconi.

Then worked for International Computer Ltd (ICL) from1974 to 1982 in Reading and Bracknell.
Then for the Ministry of Defence at a secret research station between Orpington and Sevenoaks in Kent
